La Corderie N°25

At 25 Bd de la Corderie, two psychoanalysts' offices but also a place where I've lived for 30 years. I wanted to keep a photographic record of this busy place, which is as familiar to me (the rituals of family celebrations for broken and blended families) as it is foreign (I've never lived there).
It's a strange place, too, because day after day, patients in search of a sympathetic ear come to lie on the couch and unwind the threads of their tangled lives for a session. Crossed silhouettes, imposed silence, hushed atmosphere, mystery of the practice, forbidden space, place of memory, life takes over late at night and on days off. Walls reveal snippets of life, tapestries bear witness to times gone by and cupboards open onto family archives.
Work on past and present memory, telling the story of filiation, before it fades away...
Boulevard de la Corderie is located in the district where ropes were manufactured for the port of Marseille. The word "corderie" becomes emblematic here in that it "connects" and "attunes" both what is played out in the memory of each individual, and the analysis of patients who weave memories over and over again as they make appointments at this address...
